Meet Stan Wawrinka Parents, Wolfram And Isabelle Wawrinka: Family & Siblings

Stan Wawrinka was one of four children of Wolfram and Isabella Wawrinka. Stan has two younger sisters and an older brother. The younger sisters, like his brother, followed tennis careers. Despite taking a break from tennis, Stan’s sisters were always there to support their older brother Stan. Stanislas Wawrinka is a Swiss professional tennis player who on January 27, 2014 achieved the highest number of ATP individual tennis players in his career, ranking 3rd in the world.

He began competing in international junior events at the age of 14, and turned professional in 2002. His first ATP triumph came at the Croatia Open in Umag when Novak Djokovic had to retire due to exhaustion. Furthermore, Wawrinka has three Grand Slam titles, all of which he earned by defeating the world number 1 in the final. Additionally, he represented his nation at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he won gold in doubles with Roger Federer. He was also instrumental in the 2014 Davis Cup triumph.

Stan was born in Switzerland to a Swiss mother and a German father and thus has dual Swiss-German citizenship. Wolfram Wawrinka, his father, is a farmer and social worker of Czech origin. His mother, Isabelle Wawrinka, is a teacher. As a biodynamic farmer, she also helps people with disabilities. Later, the couple bought “Ferme du Château”, a farm near Lausanne that had previously been managed by Wolfram’s parents.

They also took care of mentally ill people, enabling them to live outside institutions and work on the family farm. Stan was raised on a farm by parents who never enjoyed sports, but never stopped him from pursuing his ambition to be a professional tennis player.
