“I wasn’t there when they did all that, it was all in.” [postproduction]”, he said. “I don’t even know if it’s a man.”

Ryan’s new film follows ex-lovers Bill and Willa years after their break-up, when they unexpectedly meet at the airport for the first time in years. The pair are buried in a sudden snowstorm, leaving them to face their past together while stuck in the airport overnight.
“For the opportunity to work with Meg in a comedy like this, I think I was going to do it right away,” Duchovny said during a Q&A on Monday. “Both Meg and I started talking about it and it took a year to get it going.”
Duchovny said the “dirty secret of filmmaking is that nobody ever rehearses,” as he talked about how he and Ryan practiced extensively for the film.
“But we practiced and we practiced on Zoom. We just read and read and read,” he said. “And Meg would change and go back and rewrite. And then, by the time we got there, I’d done more rehearsals than I’d ever done for anything in my life, and it was fantastic.
What happens later is in theaters on Friday.
