Megan Richards, who stars in BBC One’s Wanderlust, will play Poppy Proudfellow in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the upcoming hit series inspired by JRR Tolkien’s literary series. This Friday, Prime Video’s long-awaited adaptation of the Lord of the Rings world premieres as an eight-episode series. The first two episodes will air at 21:00 ET on August 2, 2022.
According to the official synopsis of the series:
“We follow a group of characters as they fight the reappearance of evil in Middle-earth, which begins with a period of relative peace. These people and personalities will leave a legacy that will endure long after they are gone, from the depths of the Misty Mountains to the beautiful forests of Lindon, to the beautiful island kingdom of Nmenor, to the furthest reaches of the world.”
The story will take place over several seasons, documenting the Second Age, a period in which Middle-earth lived in peace just before one of the greatest catastrophes struck and wreaked havoc. The main villain will be the evil lord Sauron. Also, meet Megan Richards, the British actress who will play Poppy Proudfellow in The Rings of Power.

According to Megan Richards,
“I’m glad we were able to present a completely fictional universe. It’s nothing more than pure imagination coming to a logical conclusion. And I’m happy that people can witness all the hard work that went into it, not only by the cast, but also by the crew and production.
She continued,
“And just to really see everything built, produced, imagined and somehow immersed people in the world we’re fortunate to play in.”
When asked about her favorite episode of the eight-part series, Richards said,
“A lot of the episodes have a lot of features that I really like. Something happens in two, and something happens in three. I like number seven. Let’s start with seven. Seven is a great number.”
She continued,
“We have a lot of great things planned for both of us. So if you think about number two and number seven, then the adventure begins. You know, it’s a ride from the show, right? That is quite interesting. Interesting.”
Poppy Proudfellow is Harfoot, one of the three prominent hobbit types in the series, appearing alongside her best friend Nora (played by Markella Kavenagh). Richards is said to have called the two “a good match”, and they are sometimes compared to Merry and Pippen of Fellowship. Richards also said that her character is “the more cautious of the two and tries to control Nora.”
