Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘Look Very Much in Love,’ Says Her Suits Costar Wendell Pierce (Exclusive)

Wendell Pierce details his last encounter with Suits star Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

While speaking to PEOPLE at the 2024 Tony Awards in New York City on Sunday, June 16, the 60-year-old actor says the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were “very much in love” when he met them last year.

“When [Meghan] came to town, she got the award last year, she had a chance to say hello and wish her and Prince Harry well and wish the kids well,” Pierce tells PEOPLE. “They looked very much in love and very happy, so that’s the most important thing.”

Pierce, who played the father of Meghan’s character Rachel Zane Suits, says working with her on the legal drama was “great.” He adds that since the end of the show in 2019, he has met Meghan (42) again “several times”.

“I’ve only seen her a few times since then and we were able to reminisce and it’s so real, we have great memories of working together,” shares the Tony Award winner.

While discussing the show at the Tony Awards on Sunday, Pierce also shared his reaction to the renewed popularity Suits on Netflix, after the series broke streaming records on the streaming service in 2023.

“I was surprised,” the actor tells PEOPLE. “We ended the series almost eight years ago, so to be revived is pretty amazing.”

Pierce also teased a possible return to the Suits universe in the upcoming spinoff, Fits LAwhich will be hosted by Stephen Amell.

“And so now there’s going to be a new generation of people to take it over and I’m sure some of us are going to do some cameos, but it’s really great to be revived,” he tells PEOPLE of the new show. The first eight seasons Suits now streaming on Netflix. The ninth and final season of the drama will join the platform on July 1.
