Long before she met Prince Harry, Meghan Markle was a successful actress with a very impressive list of film and TV roles under her belt. Grew up on the set of the 80s sitcom Married with childrenwhere her dad, Thomas Markle, worked as a lighting director and director of photography, young Meghan quickly caught the acting bug.
During an interview with Marie Claire in 2013, she explained, “I was always a theater nerd at Northwestern University. I knew I wanted to act, but I hated the idea of being this cliché — a girl from LA who decides to be an actress. As royal fans will know, Meghan Markle played high-powered paralegal Rachel Zane on Suits from 2011 to 2018, before she left the show ahead of her royal wedding to Prince Harry. Speaking about her role in the legal drama, she said: “I see Rachel as such a good friend, and when you’re playing a character you love, it’s a lot easier. I’m rooting for her; I’m almost like a fan. If I wasn’t on the show, I would really love the show , because each of the characters is like someone you know. Rachel is like a best friend—who has a closet that I’m always borrowing things from in my personal life.” Despite her recent resurgence in popularity, it has been confirmed that Meghan is unlikely to return for a potential reboot.

Agreed or not
Years before she met Prince Harry, Meghan carried a No. 24 briefcase while modeling on the US version Agreed or not in 2006. In an attempt to realize her acting dreams, the young actress took a job while studying at Northwestern University. The job “could pay my bills. I had an income, I was a member of the Union, I had health insurance, it was great,” she revealed.

However, Meghan’s time on the show wasn’t always easy. Talking to Paris Hilton about her episode Archetypes podcast, she explained how she felt “forced to be all about looks and a bit of substance” after getting suntan vouchers every week and being told by the lady running the show to “get it inside”. She added: “I ended up leaving the show. Like I said, I was grateful for the job, but not for how it made me feel, which wasn’t smart.”
Castle
In 2012, Meghan appeared in the fourth season, episode 17 Castle, called ‘Once Upon a Crime’. Taking on the role of Charlotte, who is later revealed to be a murderer, Meghan took part in some seriously intense and tense scenes alongside Nathan Fillion and Stan Katic.

Delighting Hallmark fans, Meghan starred as Amy Peterson in 2014 When the sparks fly, which you can currently watch via Amazon. The synopsis reads: “Fireworks are set off when Amy Peterson comes home to help save her family’s annual 4th of July celebration and discovers that she loves the man she left years ago to pursue her dreams of becoming a journalist.”
Antisocial
Available to watch on ITVX, 2015 Meghan joined the cast Antisocial, a crime film also starring Gregg Sulkin and Josh Myers. The synopsis reads: “Central London, present day: Dee is an anarchic street artist confronting the system; Marcus is an armed robber on a crime wave in a jewelry store. For two brothers, being antisocial is a way of life.” Meghan played Kirsten in the film.
