MEGHAN Markle’s red carpet appearance was an “attempt to silence rumours” that could end her and Harry’s Hollywood ambitions, according to industry insiders.
The Duchess of Sussex appeared at Variety’s Power of Women event in Los Angeles on Thursday night.

The former Suits actress said she is “really proud” of the projects Archewell Productions has created so far, including the documentary series Harry & Meghan.
The couple’s soul-baring six-part series was the streaming giant’s most-watched documentary.
But Archewell has struggled to find a sequel, and there are rumors that Netflix are planning to “quietly let” their £112m deal expire in 2025.
This would put an end to their Hollywood ambitions, MailOnline reported.
It also comes after their £18m contract with Spotify was terminated by mutual consent.
Now insiders believe Meghan’s arrival was a “strategic effort” to prepare for a showbiz comeback and rebrand.
Eric Schiffer, who runs one of Hollywood’s leading crisis management firms, spoke to the online publication.
He said: “It’s clearly time to relaunch Brand Sussex and Meghan’s solo performance speaks volumes for the direction they’re going.
“Americans don’t like whiners. We like a can-do attitude, and that’s what Meghan showed last week.
“She took to the red carpet like a pro and worked the room.”
Wearing a camel-coloured, off-the-shoulder dress paired with a slicked back bun, Meghan said she wanted to create “things that make people feel” as well as create a “sense of community”.
“We have so many exciting things on the list,” she said.
“I can’t wait to release them, but I’m really proud of what we’re creating. My husband loves it too, which is really fun.”
The 42-year-old posed alongside famous faces including Billie Eilish, Margot Robbie and Carey Mulligan at the star-studded event.
She also photographed two of the most powerful women in Hollywood: Janet Yang, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the organization behind the Oscars) and Pearlena Igbokwe, who runs Universal Studios.
Meghan said: “I think the more we support each other, it just strengthens the work, it strengthens our community, and I’m just thrilled to be back in it and to be able to sit in this room and be in such good company tonight.”
Meghan’s arrival follows the launch of the latest series of Netflix’s The Crown, which focuses on the death of her mother-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales.
It also comes after royal author Omid Scobie made claims about her husband, the Duke of Sussex, ahead of the publication of his new book Endgame.
