Melanie Rauscher, star of the reality show Naked and Scared, was found dead on July 17 near Prescott, Arizona. According to reports, she was dog sitting in someone’s house when she died next to several compressed air duster cans.
The local police do not suspect wrongdoing, and no farewell note was found at the scene. There were also no traces of drug paraphernalia in the house. They also reported that the dog she was caring for was found to be unharmed. According to Prescott Police Department spokesman Corey Kasun, the body was discovered by the homeowners after they returned from vacation.

On July 17, when the owners of the house where Melanie Rauscher kept the dog returned from vacation, they discovered her body. The body was found in the guest room, near the compressed air cans. It is not yet known if the cans were in the room before Raucscher’s visit. According to local media, the Prescott Police Department is still investigating whether the deceased 35-year-old man ingested compressed air in any of the cans. Inhaling canned air is extremely harmful due to its highly toxic composition, according to PubMed Central. Ingested toxic components can cause serious heart problems, choking on one’s own vomit, liver damage, coma, brain damage, suffocation and a host of other fatal conditions. According to reports, the Yavapai County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.

The late reality TV actress is best remembered for her involvement in the seventh season of Discovery Channel’s Bare and Afraid, which featured survival and outdoor enthusiasts. Melanie Rauscher made her series debut in 2017 and also appeared in the fourth season of the original series spin-off Naked and Afraid XL. According to some stories, she was a member of the series Naked and Scared for two seasons. Melanie Elizabeth Rauscher was born Dec. 18, 1986, to Daniel T. and Catherine A. Rauscher, according to obituaries in the Camino Del Sol section. Sisters Jeanette, Rebecca and Alexis outlived the former reality star.
A native of Philadelphia, he attended Kennedy-Kenrick High School before attending Old Dominion University in Virginia. The late Naked and Afraid contestant was also a Navy veteran, having served on the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-17 during the Iraq War. However, the specific position she held and other specifics of her service in the Navy were unclear at the time.
Melanie Rauscher apparently worked at the Prescott VA Medical Center before her untimely death. According to the section of the obituary on Camino Del Sol:
“She was a passionate person who loved nature and all animals, big and small.” Melanie enjoyed camping and hiking, and sought adventure wherever she could. Melanie also enjoyed the strain, which prompted her to appear on the shows “Naked & Afraid” and “XL”. Mel was an avid sportsman who was very active in local adult leagues. She was an ardent Eagles cheerleader. She was a natural comedian with an unparalleled wit.”
Melanie Rauscher is also featured on the platform as affiliated with the PTSD Foundation of America. According to their statements, a memorial ceremony for the deceased outdoor enthusiast will be held in Philadelphia in October. However, it is not known if this event will be open to the public.
