A woman is in critical condition after a car accident in south-west Melbourne. Just after 11pm on Friday, emergency services were called to Dunnings Road in Point Cook and the 53-year-old woman was immediately taken to hospital. According to Victoria Police, a purple Holden Commodore was allegedly driving west when it ran a red light at the Broadwalk Boulevard intersection. The victim’s vehicle overturned and drove past a stop sign, a traffic sign, and a tree before striking them all.

According to a Victoria Police statement, “the Holden collided with another vehicle, a gray Volkswagen Golf traveling southbound on Boardwalk Boulevard.” The driver of the Holden allegedly fled the scene on foot after failing to stop. A short time later, at his home, “police located and arrested the driver of the Holden,” according to authorities. A 53-year-old Point Cook woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
