Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega will not return for the upcoming ‘Scream VII’, and director Christopher Landon has dropped out of the project

Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega have teamed up again with no Ghostface in sight.

On Sunday, Barrera (33) shared photos of herself and Ortega (21) posing with several of their 2022 colleagues. Scream and in 2023 Scream VI on Instagram.

Barrera was fired Scream VII due to posts she shared on social media in October and November regarding the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. The next day, news broke that Ortega had also left the project, though her departure was reportedly unrelated to Barrera’s exit.

Then, in December, Christopher Landonwho was appointed Scream VIdirector in August, announced that he had retired from the film. The director described the project as “a dream job that turned into a nightmare.”
