If Travis Kelce wants to make Melissa Etheridge happy, he’ll stay in football as long as possible.
During a new interview on Max Who is talking to Chris Wallace?singer and Kansas City native opened up about her admiration for the Chiefs tight end and her relationship with Taylor Swift — joking that she hopes he doesn’t leave the NFL for her anytime soon.
“All these guys are too professional, like her, to let anything be a distraction,” said Etheridge, 62, noting that she is a fan of Swift, 34. “I love that she loves one of my favorite football players, Travis Kelce. He’s an amazing human being and I think they make a great couple.”

The “Come to My Window” performer talked about how “attractive” it is to see two people with cultural “power” teaming up. “I think it’s fantastic. I love it,” she said.
“I’m just worried he’s going to retire early to be with her,” joked Etheridge, whose episode Who’s talking to Chris Wallace is now available to stream on Max. “That’s what I’m worried about.”
As Kelce, 34, prepares for the Chiefs’ upcoming game against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11, he made it clear that his main focus is the big game. During a recent interview on The The Pat McAfee Showconfirmed that he will not be able to attend the 2024 Grammy Awards alongside Swift on Sunday.

“I wish I could support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every award she’s nominated for,” Kelce said.
“But I think I have practice on Sunday,” he added coyly, unsure if his team would use Saturday as a practice day and Sunday as a travel day. However, he explained that his schedule simply won’t allow him to attend the show while he remains focused on Kansas City’s fourth Super Bowl in five years.
“Unfortunately, I have to get ready for this big old Super Bowl we have in a week,” Kelce said on the show.

Fans speculated about the possibility of the NFL star attending the Grammys with Swift after the “Lover” singer supported him during the Chiefs’ AFC Championship win in Baltimore on Jan. 28 — and at the awards show the weekend before the Super Bowl.
Swift and Kelce were able to publicly support each other at his recent game, and their celebration on the field set the internet on fire as they shared a few kisses and the NFL star was heard saying, “I love you.”
