Melissa Gorga Says ‘Everyone Is Happier’ and ‘Breathing’ Now That Communication with Teresa Giudice Is ‘Almost Zero’

Melissa Gorga isn’t ashamed of her current relationship, or lack thereof, with her sister-in-law Teresa Giudice.

The The Real Housewives of New Jersey The 44-year-old star opened up about their relationship on the latest episode of her Podcast One show, Featured with Melissa Gorgatelling guest Denise Richards that their communication is almost non-existent these days.

“You’re in a very difficult situation … and I give you a lot of credit because I can imagine it must be extremely difficult for you and your husband,” Richards, 52, said of their family dynamic on the Bravo show. “Family stuff, oh my god, it’s so hard.”

“It’s definitely a rollercoaster, up and down,” replied Melissa, 44. “And we’ll be back on the air in the spring, sometime this spring. And it’s very, very different … we don’t even talk to each other.”

“It’s almost zero [communication]”, she added. “This is a very, very different season.”

“Zero,” she said, as Richards suggested that “maybe one day you guys will get to the place [of understanding.]”

But Melissa noticed that they had come to terms with the circumstances and that they felt it was for the best.

“I think it took us a while to get to that point, to realize that this might be what it is and we have to accept it,” she said. “I think everyone is finally breathing, actually everyone – including the other side – everyone is happier the way it is now.”

RHONJMelissa Gorga says she and Teresa Giudice ‘don’t even look at each other’ in new ‘unhappy’ relationship

Fans RHONJ they’ve watched the ebb and flow of this duo’s feud for over a decade. Over the years, Melissa and Giudice, 51, have traded insults between awkward periods of peace for the sake of the family.

Years of misunderstandings, plus business dealings between Giudice’s now-husband Luis “Louie” Ruelas and Joe put a strain on their relationship, but things only got worse during the season when they tried to patch things up.

Season 13 ended with Joe and Melissa deciding not to attend Giudice’s wedding after it was revealed that Giudice and Ruelas met with Joe behind Melissa’s back to tell Joe about the cheating rumors they had heard about Melissa (Melissa harshly denied the “baseless” accusations).

“Teresa betrayed them in a way that’s unforgivable,” a source told PEOPLE in August 2022. “They’re not going to celebrate Teresa’s new marriage when all she’s doing is trying to tear theirs apart.”

At that point, the lines between the sisters-in-law were drawn. The two traded insults on social media and on their podcasts. They were even split into separate panels at BravoCon in October 2022 to reduce noise.

Things didn’t pick up until the Season 13 reunion. Recorded in April, the three-part album included plenty of name-calling. And although the Gorgas offered hope that they could rekindle their relationship in the future, Giudice made it clear that she never plans to see them again.

During BravoCon in November 2023, the two once again kept their distance, staying on separate panels and avoiding each other at the fan convention.

“I’ve come to a point in my life where, you know, you can try, you can try, you can try, but at some point you have to protect your peace and you have to create a boundary and I think that’s who I am and that’s what we do,” she said. said Melissa during her panel at the event. “I mean, you know, when something’s really toxic and it’s not working for you and you’re uncomfortable, you shouldn’t force yourself to be around it. It’s okay to let something go. I protect my peace. We should all protect our peace. I think it’s a wonderful thing and everyone should do it.”
