Meryl Streep and Martin Short go hand in hand!
Shortly after he walked the carpet at the season 4 premiere Just the murders in the building On August 22, Short, 74, and Streep, 75, were seen holding hands at an after party at the Paramount Lot in Los Angeles.
The duo remained close as they walked around the event as their own ISOMITB Costar Steve Martin followed them in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Deadline.
Still, a source tells PEOPLE that the two are “just friends.”
Just moments before, the stars posed and smiled together on the red carpet as they celebrated the fourth installment of the hit Hulu series. They were also seen holding hands in good spirits on the carpet.
Streep wore a black and white printed Stella McCartney dress that she accessorized with a wide belt around her waist. She was styled by Micaela Erlanger, and served casual chic by complementing it with slip-on flats and a white clutch.
Short, on the other hand, chose a classic look with a black suit and burgundy tie with gray motifs.

The appearance comes nearly eight months after Short ended speculation about the nature of his relationship with Streep, with whom he appeared particularly close at the 2024 Golden Globes in January.
A rep for Short told PEOPLE at the time that the pair were “just very good friends, nothing more,” and the actor later shot down the claims again on Bill Maher’s podcast, saying the two actors “are not a couple, we’re just very close friends. ”

In May, Short talked about the interest in his relationship with Streep — who PEOPLE confirmed in October that she split from her husband of 45 years, Don Gummer, six years ago: “It’s always interesting. Show business relationships and specifications.”
As for whether he feels weird when asked about it, he replied: “No,” adding: “She’s fantastic. There’s no one who doesn’t adore her.”
