Michael Bolton Shares First Photo with Family Amid Cancer Treatment: 'Countless Moments to Cherish'

Michael Bolton spends Christmas with his family after a difficult year.

The singer, 71, shared a festive picture with his loved ones on Facebook on Wednesday, December 25, after discovering he had a brain tumor and had to undergo surgery “before the holidays” last year.

“Sending warm wishes for a holiday season filled with peace, love and joy,” the caption of the post read. “May the New Year bring health, happiness and countless moments to appreciate.”

The “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” singer added: “Here’s to new beginnings and good times in 2024!”

The photo shows Bolton sitting on a couch with four loved ones – three of whom are rocking the same pajama tops. The whole family in the picture is dressed in Christmas clothes, and the singer is wearing a Santa hat and a red and white Grinch T-shirt under a black sweater.

It was covered with a light blue blanket with holiday motifs with gifts, snowmen and Christmas trees.

Bolton has three daughters – Isa, Holly and Taryn – with ex-wife Maureen McGuire. He is also the grandfather of six grandchildren.

In July 2023, the two-time Grammy winner told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that his children and grandchildren make fun of his signature long locks from the ’80s and ’90s.

“There’s a birthday card where you have to pull my head out of this cake, and then I sing ‘Happy Birthday.’ One of my grandsons saw it in the store and said, ‘How did Mr-pa get so famous?'” he said. “It’s fun and funny, but they’re not impressed by celebrities.”

Last January, Bolton revealed that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumor and would be taking a break from the stage.

“Before the holidays, it was discovered that I have a brain tumor, which is why I had to have an emergency operation. Thanks to my amazing medical team, the operation was successful,” the singer wrote on Facebook. “I am now recovering at home and surrounded by the overwhelming love and support of my family.”

The famous musician also told fans that he will be “dedicating” the “next few months” to his recovery and taking a “temporary break” from touring.

“It’s always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but there’s no doubt I’m working hard to speed up my recovery and get back to performing soon,” Bolton wrote, thanking his fans for their “love and support” over the years.

In August, fans got a scare when someone reported that several police cars were at Bolton’s home in Connecticut.

“Something with several police cars going on at Michael Bolton’s house here in Westport CT. I hope he is well,” read the first X post.

The singer has canceled a series of upcoming concerts in October due to his health, stating that he is “not quite 100% yet” and is still on the “road to recovery”.

“It’s demanding and often frustrating because I just want to be out there performing for you, but I need a little more time to regain my full strength and endurance,” he wrote on Facebook. “My progress is good and I’ve been able to work on a few exciting projects that you’ll be hearing about very soon.”

He is currently scheduled to perform at the O2 in London in July 2025, according to his website.
