Michael Campbell, cyclist, passed away
The Lexington Police Department reported that a bicyclist was killed in a collision with a car Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened near South Upper Street and High Street around 4:16 p.m. The driver was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead, according to police Lt. Dan Truex. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Michael Campbell, 46, was the bicyclist. Coroner Gary Ginn issued a press release saying he was pronounced dead at 5:07 p.m. and that his death was ruled an accident. It is not clear whether the driver in the accident will be prosecuted.

Truex said the crash was being reviewed Thursday morning by the LPD Crash Reconstruction Unit. It is not known what kind of car was involved in the collision.
