Michael Redfern Passed Away At The Age Of 79

Michael Redfern, the television personality, died last Friday at the age of 79. His family announced the actor’s death, and Redfern’s son, Ashley, paid tribute to his father, saying:

“He has played a range of characters over the years, including prominent roles in soap operas United!, The Newcomers and classics such as The Two Ronnies, Porridge and Some Mothers Do Av ‘Em.” He was best known for his role in the Oxo commercials, which he ran for 17 years and became a beloved member of one of Britain’s favorite television families. He will be greatly missed by his wife Carol and family.”

Michael Redfern’s career in the entertainment sector

Michael Redfern, who was born on March 30, 1943, was known for his theater and television appearances. A native of Isleworth, Middlesex, she rose to fame as the on-screen husband of Lynda Bellingham in the Oxo family’s television adverts. The ads ran for 16 years, culminating when the family packed up their belongings and moved to a new home. Oxo tried out a fresh, contemporary family idea with a Richard Curtis script in 2011, and the brand was revived with the debut of The Oxo Factor in 2009.

Redfern worked as a taxi driver and in a restaurant after the Oxo commercials ended. Eventually he moved to Spain with his wife Carol and hosted quiz nights. Although he is best known for appearing in Oxo commercials, he has also appeared in various TV series. He appeared as a police officer in series such as The Young Detectives, The Offence, George & Mildred, The Young Ones, Boon, Crossroads, Filthy and others.
