Michelle Yeoh is already slowly settling into her new role as a grandmother.
Talk to PEOPLE at the world premiere of Netflix Brothers Sun, the Everything everywhere and at once The 61-year-old actress gushed about her newborn grandson, revealing that she hasn’t come up with a grandmother’s name yet.
“No, not yet,” Yeoh said when asked what she wanted her grandson Maxime to call her. “I want him to know his name. Otherwise he’ll grow up thinking that’s his name.”
“Remember, if you tell a child no too often, they’ll probably run around thinking my name must be ‘No,’ because every time someone sees me, they say, ‘No, no.'”
Since her grandson won’t hear a lot of no from his grandmother, the actress admitted that she might go overboard with the new bundle of joy. “Definitely spoiled,” she confirmed.

Michelle Yeoh announces she’s a grandmother on New Year’s Day: ‘A Little Miracle’
Earlier this month, Yeoh announced that she had become a grandmother for the first time, sharing photos on Instagram on New Year’s Day. She and husband Jean Todt became grandparents after Todt’s son Nicolas had his first baby.
“A little miracle on the first day of 2024 ❤️✨ we are so blessed indeed… I can’t tell you how happy I am for this very special bundle of joy ❤️✨,” she captioned the first photo, which only showed a newborn leg in her hand.
Yeoh later shared more photos of herself and Todt, writing, “Thank you dear Nicolas and Darina for making us the happiest and proudest grandparents!! We welcome baby Maxime ❤️💖✨❤️💖✨.”
Yeoh also shared a photo of the couple with the proud new parents and their joy.
“Love, love, love ❤️🥰❤️🥰✨✨,” Yeoh captioned the photos.
It’s in December Haunting in Venice star celebrated their second wedding nearly three months after they tied the knot in Geneva on July 27. Their last wedding was a small, casual wedding held at a restaurant in Yeoh’s hometown of Ipoh, Malaysia.
After her summer wedding in Switzerland, Yeoh shared photos from the joyous occasion on Instagram. “19 years and YES!! we are married!! Thank you to our ‘families’ ❤️ who love us all these years. We love you and here’s to many more ❤️✨❤️✨✨,” she wrote.
According to their wedding program, shared on Instagram by former Formula 1 Ferrari driver Felipe Massa, the couple first met in June 2004 in Shanghai. Engagements quickly followed. However, as for their wedding, it lasted much longer – 6992 days to be exact.
