When Midsi Sanchez was abducted in 2000, she was eight years old. Her brave escape garnered her widespread media attention. She claims that nearly 18 years later, she is still coping with the emotional effects of her ordeal.
The 25-year-old Sanchez spoke about the non-profit that works to prevent child abductions and sexual abuse while standing among the modified hot rods that were part of a fundraiser for her new endeavour on the Vallejo waterfront.
“I was taken hostage and missing for three days. The three shortest days I’ve ever experienced,” Sanchez stated.
A crime was committed on August 10, 2000. When Sanchez was eight years old and walking home alone from school, Curtis Dean, then 39, kidnapped her and put her in chains.
When her abductor eventually left her alone in the car with the keys, she was able to flee. She managed to escape her chains and return home unharmed. The entire Bay Area and her hometown of Vallejo applauded when she reached safety.
“The neighbourhood showed such a lot of love, support, and prayer. And I’m extremely appreciative of that,” remarked Sanchez. But after such trauma and attempting to return to a normal life, it isn’t the easiest thing to do.
Her life saw some challenging changes. Alcoholism resulted from her horrific experience’s PTSD. She discovered she was pregnant with her daughter, who is now eight years old, after suffering severe injuries in a car accident when she was 16 years old.
When Sanchez found out she was pregnant, she went inside of herself carefully and once more discovered a means to break the bonds that had been shackling her.
In 2009, after Sandra Cantu’s kid went missing in Tracy, Sanchez got in touch with her family. She claims that even though Sandra was subsequently discovered dead inside a bag, her presence seemed to assist. When families were in some of the worst situations, Sanchez discovered she had a talent for assisting them.
The Midsi Sanchez Foundation had its first fundraising event on Sunday at Gentleman Jim’s restaurant in Vallejo, which featured a large number of vintage automobiles. With a focus on preventing kidnapping and child sex abuse, Sanchez will lecture to students utilising animatronic puppets.

It turned out that her abductor Dean had killed Xiana Fairchild and Amber Schwartz, two other females he had abducted. Later, after completing a 300-year term, he passed away in prison.She is aware that her tale could have ended disastrously. She is therefore making every effort to assist others.
I didn’t know if I was going to survive when I was in that man’s automobile, gripped by him, and terrified, said Sanchez. I’m just incredibly appreciative that I got to be here and make better use of the past.
