Evidence was destroyed, jurisdictional issues halted any progress the case might have made, and Tom hired a lawyer while Michael lied profusely. It wasn’t the best time for Colorado law enforcement.

Those were difficult hours. He oscillated between being upset, furious, evasive and dramatic, always chalking it all up to convenient memory loss. But he sounded much more believable than he expected when he described how his father was deathly afraid of him.
When I finished my research, I was sure of two things. First, Michael was deeply involved in his family’s frauds and murders in the cattle business. Second, he couldn’t complete it himself.
When Mike was fourteen years old, the disappearances began. Two shovels were found in a grave, indicating two gravediggers. One of the victims suffered two bullet wounds.
You can label Michael McCormick as a monster, a serial killer, a natural predator, or whatever you want. Not only from him, but from the system that settled with him, found him guilty, and then let him go, his victims deserved better than they got. However, monsters are not always monsters.
