News about Mila Davis-Kent

Mila Davis-Kent has joined the cast of the highly anticipated Creed III. In her portrayal of Amara Creed, the daughter of Adonis Creed in the film, Davis-Kent, a deaf actress, acts as a spokesperson for the deaf community.

Michael B. Jordan and the cast of the recently released blockbuster Creed III are holding press conferences around the world to whet the public’s appetite for the latest installment in the franchise.

Michael B. Jordan commented that Davis-Kent’s energy pushed the group to reveal something beautiful at the Creed III press conference in Atlanta, Georgia. A key concept that both actors hoped the deaf community would take away from the film is representation.

According to the National Center for the Deaf, social bias is one of the leading causes of barriers for people with hearing loss. Their daily life is affected by prejudices such as low expectations and respect for the deaf population.

Deaf black people can watch this movie and realize they can be anything, according to Davis-Kent, who said the opposite has been proven. It is inclusive if we are part of it. We want deaf people to see this movie and realize that they can do it. This movie will help others understand that deaf people are just like them.

“Mila and her family have taught me so much. Every time I look at her, I feel blessed,” Jordan said gratefully. Jordan stated that he has a personal connection to this franchise.

Jordan directed the final film in the trilogy, and compared to the first two films, Creed III reveals a different side to Adonis Creed. He is now the husband of a black woman who has hearing loss and the father of a deaf girl who speaks primarily ASL.

Adonis Creed’s character DéNajah Johnson, a third-year biology student at Florida State University of Agriculture and Engineering, had a similar experience. Like Amara Creed, Johnson grew up with a hearing-impaired father, forcing her to incorporate ASL into her everyday life. She stated that her heart skips a beat because of this movie.

“When I see a black person who is deaf or hard of hearing on the big screen, my heart skips a beat as the child of a deaf adult. This is one of those moments, Johnson added, where I want to yell “Yes!” “Although we still have a long way to go, society is moving in the right direction when it comes to the inclusion of black people who are deaf or hard of hearing,” she enthused.

Creed III made history as the first sports movie to gross over $100 million at the box office. Plus, it outsold the recently released Scream 5.
