Florida influencer Lexi Natoli shared a clip of the optical illusion on TikTok in January, calling it “stunning.”
“This illusion will make you hear things that don’t really exist,” he said.
The shot behind her shows a row of power lines, with four poles visible.
The footage is animated, so the two transmission towers appear to be swinging the lines like jump ropes.
One of the towers in the middle appears to be jumping on the jump ropes.
That is, every time it falls, the video vibrates.
“This video doesn’t actually have sound, but people claim to hear a noise every time this thing hits the ground,” Lexi said.
He even challenged viewers to watch his video again with the sound turned off to prove that there was actually no noise.
The video has garnered over a quarter of a million likes, and countless commenters are in awe.
“I put the phone on the table away from me [and] I can still hear it,” wrote one.
“Oh you’re right,” wrote another.
Some more said that they not only heard the noise, but also felt the impact of the tower falling.
“I can hear it and feel it at the same time,” said one.
“Our brains are tricked into thinking we can hear or feel it,” added another.
