Mind-blowing ‘spinning stairs’ optical illusion leaves viewers ‘unable to see the truth’

They walk along a giant spiral path around the ground that appears to spin on its axis.

However, the pole is actually stationary, and the spinning effect is a neat eye trick.

Reddit user u/MonsterJuiced shared the clip, which has gone viral online several times in the past, on Saturday.

A post on the website’s popular r/confusingperspective forum garnered 14,000 upvotes.

The clip shows fans exiting the San Siro through one of the many pillars, creating an unusual optical illusion.

The effect is created by everyone spinning around the structure in the same direction and at a similar speed.

While his legs are protected by the walls of the columns, they appear to be spinning as a result of the rotation of the structure itself.

On Reddit, users were baffled by the illusion.

One said: “I thought he was on drugs.”

Another wrote: “Ok this is too hard can someone explain it.”

Others have commented to explain how the effect is created.

One wrote: “People are walking up this ramp. So it looks like it’s moving. It’s not.”

Another said: “Everyone is walking in the same direction, down. So, technically, people are turning, which makes it look like the white corkscrew-shaped ramp is moving with them like a revolving escalator, but it’s not moving.” .

Opened in 1926, San Siro, or Giuseppe Meazza, has been renovated many times.

The 11 towers were installed in 1990 before Italy hosted the FIFA World Cup as part of the latest and most impressive upgrade.

At each corner, the main support column rises to 51 meters and forms part of the unique look of the arena, supported by its beautiful Ragazzi-designed roof.

However, this is not a place that football fans can enjoy for long.

There are plans for AC Milan and Inter to build a new stadium on the same site, meaning the current San Siro will be demolished in the next few years.

In its place, a new 80,000-seat stadium should once again house both teams. Plans for the project should be finalized this year.
