The only child of the late Maureen Dumont Kelly and former Aerosmith guitarist Rick Dufay, Kelly was born on June 24, 1980 in Los Angeles, California. Before settling in Chicago, Kelly and her mother moved around, and at the time, Kelly was enrolled in junior high school. Her heritage includes Irish, French and Dutch-Indonesian. She graduated with honors from Valley High School, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
