Schools closed in Kerala, Karnataka: All educational institutions in Kannur, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts of Kerala will be closed today, 24 July 2023. The holiday has been declared as a precautionary measure under the orange alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for the above regions.
An orange warning has been issued for Kannur, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall, while a yellow warning has been issued for Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Pakallad, Thrissur and Malappuram districts.

According to the latest reports, due to heavy rainfall, schools in 5 taluk have been notified for the holidays including NR Pura, Mudigere, Sringeri, Chikmagalur and Koppa. The holiday was announced by Meena Nagaraj, Chikkamagaluru District Collector.
According to reports, the IMD has predicted moderate to moderate rain with individual heavy rain for the next 24 hours. Heavy rain is expected in the regions of Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Telangana over the next 5 days.
