M&M's Latest Permanent Flavor Is Peanut Butter & Jelly — and We Tried Them

M&M’s packs the classic school lunch into a sweet delight.

On September 19, candy brand Mars Wrigley announced Peanut Butter & Jelly M&M’s as the newest flavor in its portfolio. The chocolate candies have a berry flavor packed with creamy peanut butter.

The packs will be available at retailers online and in stores starting in December in three sizes: single size, share size and stand alone share size bags.

Peanut Butter & Jelly M&M’s are the company’s first permanent addition since 2022.

The PEOPLE staff had a chance to try the nostalgic flavor before it hits the shelves. For starters, a very clear berry aroma wafts out of the bag even before the package is opened.

It’s no surprise that PB&J-flavored candies taste fruity after the first bite. While the essence of berries done a little overpowering, the creamy peanut butter tones it down and acts as the perfect complement. (Much like a real PB&J sandwich!)

Testers had trouble distinguishing which flavor of jelly they were imitating—the brand simply described it as “berry jelly.” But one thing was for sure: these are sweeter than your classic M&M’s.

In March, M&M’s released another fun and festive flavor — a limited edition Easter M&M’S multi-flavored wrap.

Some of the treats consisted of a white chocolate center with vanilla ice cream and hints of cherry, surrounded by a dark chocolate coating. And in November 2023, the candy brand released toasted vanilla-flavored white chocolate M&Ms for the holidays.
