Daphne Selfe attributes her longevity to the right amount of self-care – with a little partying.
The 95-year-old fashion industry veteran — who, according to Guinness World Records, is the world’s oldest model — has worked with major fashion houses, covered major fashion magazines and strutted down many catwalks. She attributes her good health that has kept her going all these years to a number of obvious things like proper diet and exercise, but there are a few fun flaws that have also kept her going.
“I love a glass of champagne,” she told The Telegraph in an interview published on November 29. “Only occasionally, if it’s someone’s birthday. Or my birthday.”

She admitted that she always ate well, she didn’t necessarily follow a diet. However, growing up during the war naturally forced her to ration food. Selfe said she never had to worry about her weight, but luckily she enjoyed healthy food.
“And you should always eat a lot of vegetables. I like broccoli, but I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite. At home, we grew everything ourselves,” she said.
In order to keep her skin in top shape, she often reached for Nivea products, she said, and she made her absorb a lot of vitamin D by going outside often. She has always loved being outside, and in her youth she shared that she always had lots of pets — including some unusual ones!

“At one point we had a pet fox named Vicky. And a crow named Johnny,” she said, adding that at one point she also had two pet squirrels named Ping and Pong. “They would run all over the house, jump on your head and do all kinds of funny things.”
Another piece of the puzzle? Her social life.
“I’m great for socializing and gathering friends, even if it’s just for coffee. And I like to throw a party.”
The British model has done little recently as she mingled with members of the royal family.
Selfe, who in addition to modeling has also had roles in several Bond films, recently moved into a nursing home funded by the Royal Variety Charity. She attended the Royal Variety Performance on November 30 in London and chatted with Prince William and Kate Middleton. According to the Independent, Prince William asked Selfe when she retired, and Selfe told him she didn’t. The royal reportedly told her it was “unbelievable”.
