Profession
Youtube
Mohawk Mangal created a YouTube channel called The Soch Project (now known as Soch by Mohawk Mangal) in 2018 along with his two friends Ishleen Sethi and Shikhar Swaroop. In the beginning, the format they followed was to deliver “informed content” through memes or simply, it was an infotainment channel. The first video was titled “Fake News on WhatsApp in India Explained” and was uploaded on May 2, 2018.
The Soch team moved away from meme formats to a purely informational style because Mohak said following meme formats was not a sustainable approach. Mohawk started his channel because he was frustrated with all the fake news circulating in his family WhatsApp group and that’s how he came up with the idea of creating a YouTube channel that focuses on sharing information that is well-researched and backed by evidence. As of 2023, the Soch by Mohawk Mangal channel has 2.67 million subscribers and approximately 40 million views per month. The channel ranks in the top 1% of all channels worldwide. Mohawk manages a team of 13 people who spend their time developing strategies for new businesses such as podcasts and newsletters, and finding ways to keep content innovative and fresh. Mohawk also shares videos on YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels (as of 2023, he has 122,000 followers on Instagram), and is active on his Twitter (now X) account.

Comparison between Narendra Modi and Pt Jawaharlal Nehru
Mohak Mangal faced backlash for his video titled “What’s Wrong with Indian Liberals?” In the video, Mohak talks about the backlash among “liberals” against right-wing supporters and those on the side of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mohawk said the purpose of his video was to delve into why some people think it’s wrong to disagree with them and why it’s important for people to have their own space to express their opinions, which led to his Spotlight video, which is “a problem for some liberals today.” This video, uploaded on March 7, 2023, discusses the similarities between Pt. Prime Ministers Nehru and Modi both performed religious ceremonies at key moments in their careers. The video also touches on hatred of religion, the good deeds done by Prime Minister Modi and the hypocrisy displayed by Indian liberals. Even in the comments section, the posted video received mixed feedback. There have been discussions on online platforms like Reddit where Mohawk has been criticized for drawing entirely different comparisons. Additionally, he has been criticized for mischaracterizing religious relations in India and has been criticized most for comparing the behavior of Pt. Nehru accepted it in his personal capacity and Prime Minister Modi took a formal decision. Mohawk, meanwhile, was praised for making bold statements and explaining content that resonated with many citizens.
