Molly Ringwald Reveals Childhood Crush on Jason Bateman When They Were in School: ‘He Was Very Cute’

Molly Ringwald reminisces about her high school crushes!

The Feud: Capote vs Swans star, 55, admitted she had a crush on fellow child star Jason Bateman when they went to a special junior high school for child actors in the 80s.

“We went to school together in eighth grade, although we never spoke,” Ringwald said Search engine host PJ Vogt on Friday’s episode of the show, in which the actress helped him answer the question “How do you survive fame?”

“I would kind of sneak a look at him, he was very cute,” she said Pretty in pink the star said of Bateman, who is also 55.

Although she gained fame in the second half of the 1980s thanks to John Hughes films such as The breakfast clubRingwald’s career began in 1979 when she was only 11 years old.

Between 1979 and 1980, she appeared in two episodes of the hit sitcom Different moves and 14 episodes of the hit NBC sitcom Facts of life.

But she told Vogt that traditional school was a bad experience for her because her peers became jealous of her acting performances, and she lost friends. She also said that the teachers were not very accommodating when it came to helping her fit her school obligations into her schedule.

However, even Ringwald did not last long at the school for professional children.

“Yes, I went there for about a year, but you only had to go three hours a day,” she recalled. “I mean, it was like not going to school, I couldn’t even deal with it. I was just like, ‘I feel like I’m not learning anything,’ and then the next year I went to a good school.”

Ringwald admitted that her less-than-traditional school experience had a negative impact on her social life. She said she became “afraid” of girls her own age.

Bateman’s career began in 1981 when he was around 12 years old playing James Cooper Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie. Last year, Arrested development alum has acted in films Air and A fool’s paradise.

Ringwald plays Joanne Carson in the Feud: Capote vs Swanswhich debuted on FX and Hulu on January 31st. New episodes air on FX on Wednesdays.
