THIS is the chilling moment a bricklayer whistles as he cleans up after beating a customer to death in a row over extensions.

The video shows Peter Norgrove, 43, at the home of 58-year-old Sharon Gordon in Dudley, West Mids, moments after he hit her eight times over the head with a hammer.

He was doing construction work at her house on Thursday, July 20, 2022.

CCTV shows Norgrove tidying up construction items in Mrs Gordon’s back garden before placing the bucket with the hammer on the patio.

Shortly after 2 p.m., he puts on a pair of red gloves and enters through the back door.

Then the doorbell camera captures the sounds of screams and bangs as he carries out the horror attack.

Just 20 minutes later, Norgrove reappears on camera with bloody pants.

Then he whistles as he casually packs up his car.

Then he drives home, puts his clothes in the washing machine and goes to pick up his daughter at school.

Police later discovered bloody items in a wheelie bin and the murder weapon hidden in a shed at his mother-in-law’s house.

Norgove admitted murder at Wolverhampton Crown Court and was today jailed for life with a minimum of 15 years.

The court heard that the killer met Sharon through mutual friends at the church they both attended.

He was carrying out building work on an extension to her house in Dudley, West Midlands, but there were problems.

In a victim impact statement, Sharon’s daughter said Norgrove acted like a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”.

Rhian Brown also said the killer repeatedly lied to her about the work he was doing and stretched it out over 15 months instead of 15 weeks.

She added: “He took the full payment up front for the extension, which we believe is more than £30,000.

“He was driving my mom crazy with stress and anxiety – she was recording everything.

“She had notebooks, receipts, everything, because of how bad this man was.”

On July 21, worried friends went to Sharon’s house when she didn’t show up for work and found her dead by the stairs.

She was found with severe head injuries, which she had received the day before.

Norgrove initially claimed he had left the property the previous day, but his lies were exposed when officers discovered the hammer.

Detective Inspector Damian Forrest, from West Midlands Police, said: “It appears to have been a dispute over work being carried out on the victim’s property which escalated into violence.

“I am pleased that the accused pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and spared Ms Gordon’s family the ordeal of a trial.”
