Flight attendants turned on the cabin lights as they offered drinks and snacks to passengers on the delayed overnight flight from Morocco.
A woman sparked a heated argument with airline staff over in-flight lighting, resulting in her being dragged from the plane as it sat on the runway.
She was charged with “disturbance” and given a recorded warning by the police.
Speaking to The Sun, one passenger said: “When the crew got to her seat, she immediately complained and demanded the lights be turned off so her children could sleep.
“They were polite and professional, but she was so abusive, raised her voice and trash-talked them. She was absolutely right.
“After we landed, they held us for more than half an hour, and the captain repeated several times that we must not get up or leave our seats.
“The police eventually got on board and told her to come with them. She had none of that, but they told her not to make a scene in front of the children.”
Her partner was left with the four children, who appeared to be aged between one and eight, while the family went through passport control and baggage claim.
The passenger added: “We all felt sorry for the husband and children, they had to watch their mother being arrested on the plane. We were more concerned about them.
“Many passengers offered to help him, but he politely refused. Later, at baggage claim, he told us that she had been arrested.
“There were a lot of us on that flight in agreement with the police.
“There is no place in this world to talk to anyone like that, let alone flight attendants.
“They’re on a 12 hour shift and they’re doing their best to get us home safely, show them some respect.”
Police Scotland said: “We are aware of a disturbance on a flight that arrived at Edinburgh Airport on Tuesday morning.
“A 29-year-old woman has been charged in connection with and given a recorded police warning.”
A Ryanair spokesman said: “The crew on this flight from Marrakesh to Edinburgh (September 30) called the police in advance for assistance after a passenger became disruptive on board.
“The aircraft was met by local police on arrival in Edinburgh and this passenger was removed. This is now a local police matter.”
