MP NEET admission: 5 percent medical seats will be allotted to government school students

MP NEET 5% seats for government school students

Medical Posts in MP: Madhya Pradesh State Government has earmarked 5% medical posts for students of government schools in the state. MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that after the introduction of NEET UG entrance exams for admission to MBBS programmes, medical aspirants from government schools could not secure a seat.

According to the VM’s announcement, two lists will be prepared from now on. One for private school students and the other for government school students. He stated that for the first time the Madhya Pradesh state government has taken a decision to be implemented for this year under which 5% reservation will be given to government school students in medical colleges in the state. He further clarified that only government school students will be admitted to these reserved seats.

The Chief Minister pointed out that previously only students from private schools took the NEET exams, but now with the introduction of two lists, government school students will also be given the opportunity to continue the MBBS program. Students from poor backgrounds must also be given a chance to move forward, he said.

The Medical Counseling Center carries out the counseling procedure for enrolling students in undergraduate and postgraduate studies in medicine. While the MCC conducts the counseling for 15% of the All India Quota (AIQ) seats, the state governments conduct the counseling for the remaining 85% of the state quota seats.
