MTV Star Jacky Oh’s Cause of Death Determined 4 Months After She Died Suddenly at 32

The reason for Jacky Oh’s sudden death at the age of 32 has been announced.

On Friday, a representative from the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE that the former MTV personality (born Jacklyn Smith) died of complications from cosmetic surgery, as TMZ first reported.

The update comes four months after PEOPLE confirmed that the Wild ‘N Out the star died on May 31. At the time, a spokesperson for BET Media Group said in a statement shared with PEOPLE: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jacklyn Smith, known to the world as Jacky Oh, the talented Wild ‘N Out a family member whose influence will forever be cherished and missed.”

“Jacky Oh was a dear friend and beloved colleague Wild ‘N Out starred for five seasons,” the spokesperson continued. “More importantly, she was a wonderful mother to three beautiful children.”

“BET Media Group extends our sincere condolences to the Smith family, DC Young Fly, B Simone, Nick Cannon and all the friends who loved and cared for Jacky Oh at this difficult time,” their statement concluded.

DC Young Fly, the MTV personality’s longtime partner, was also among those who shared emotional tributes in honor of Jacky Oh. The couple met in 2015 and eventually had three children: Nova, Nala and Prince.

“We thank everyone for their well wishes and ask for privacy at this difficult time,” he said in a statement shared with PEOPLE.

In the days that followed, a police report obtained by PEOPLE indicated that authorities were “dispatched … in reference to an unresponsive female subject.” She was taken to Mercy Hospital where she was later pronounced dead “despite CPR.”

Jacky Oh was a cast member Wild ‘N Out for five seasons, starting with the sixth season in 2014. Some of her other on-screen projects included roles in Marc + Jenni, Shift drinks and The worst couple.

After her departure from Wild ‘N Outshe launched her own lip gloss line and sold real estate.
