Tot Bronson was in the care of children’s services, but the tragedy was not discovered until two weeks after the couple were last seen.

Sarah Piesse, 43, fought back tears as she told The Sun yesterday: “If social services had done their job, Bronson would still be alive. But they did nothing.

“I can not believe it.

“I can’t let them get away with this.

“We have to be able to rely on social workers to keep our children safe.”

Sarah added: “I had the results of the autopsy.

“Bronson starved to death because his dad died.

“They think that Kenneth died only on December 29.

“That means if the social worker rushed in when she didn’t hear back on January 2nd, then Bronson would still be alive.”

Preliminary tests showed that Bronson died of dehydration and starvation.

Heartbreakingly, mum-of-three Sarah couldn’t hold her son when she went to identify him.

“I couldn’t pick him up because his body was too fragile,” she cried.

“I could only touch him. He was left there for too long.”

Sarah last saw her son before Christmas and he was last seen alive waving to a neighbor on Boxing Day.

On December 27, Kenneth texted the neighbor: “Thank you so much for your concern, it means a lot to me and Bronson.”

That same day, Bronson’s social worker texted Kenneth to arrange a routine visit.

The emergency review was launched after social workers visited the property on January 2, heard no response and called the police.

Two days later they encountered the same lack of response and called the police again.

Despite this, another five days passed before any checks were carried out inside the property.

Toddler Bronson and his dad were eventually found on January 9, seven days after the initial social services visit.

Lincolnshire County Council said Bronson’s social worker visited the property unannounced on January 4 and when there was no response she contacted police again.

In the end, she asked the landlord for the key and made a sad discovery.

The police and doctors immediately went to the scene, but the couple was pronounced dead.
