In an interview, Mumais revealed the beginning of her journey in the film industry. She said her sister Zabin attended a college event and asked Mumays to teach her how to dance. During the event, the lighting engineer noticed Zabin and invited her to join a dance troupe of background dancers. Meanwhile, Bollywood choreographer Remo D’Souza has parted ways with choreographer Ahmed Khan. He is looking for girls to form a dance troupe. Zabin asked her mother to let her and Mumays join the dance troupe. Mumais’s mother came from a Pathan Muslim family with strict rules and initially refused their request. However, she later agreed to let them dance because they were facing a financial crisis and needed money badly. Mumaith became a background dancer at age 13. Gradually, she started doing cameos and songs in movies. She started her film career in 2001 with the song “Hari Gore” in the Tamil film Majunu. In 2002, she made a cameo appearance in the Bollywood film “Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai?” She came to limelight with her guest appearance as Reena or a hospital dancer in the film Munna Bhai MBBS (2003). She made her Telugu debut with a cameo in the film Swamy (2004). She also made cameos in Kannada, Bengali and Odia films. As of the end of 2017, she has acted in about 40 Telugu films, more than 20 Hindi films, 16 Tamil films and 5 Kannada films.

On New Year’s Eve, while Mummais was performing at a local bar in Hyderabad, a group of party-goers spilled drinks on her chest. This made her so angry that she immediately canceled the event.
Charges against taxi driver for failure to pay dues:
In 2020, a taxi driver accused Mumais of using her taxi service to travel to and from Goa without paying for the taxi service. Mumais lodged a formal complaint against the taxi driver with the Punjagutta police, accusing him of using a false name, mentally harassing her and lying about non-payment for the taxi service. She showed the media screenshots of chats involving taxi drivers, as well as CCTV footage of her paying cash for taxi services.
Drug cases:
In the first season of Bigg Boss Telugu, Mumaysh’s name came up in a drug and money laundering case in Tollywood. The ED of Bigg Boss sent her a notice after which she took a day off from the show and reached the ED office. She volunteered to provide hair and nail samples to the emergency room. In 2017, she was cleared of a drug case.

- During her childhood, her mother used to even look for 50 paisa in the house; however, Mumaysi fell into trouble and later bought a duplex apartment worth Rs. Mumbai has 5.5 million.
- In 2015, at the peak of her career, Moumais suffered a severe head injury that severed five cranial nerves. In an interview, she recounted the head injury. she says,
After returning from Goa, I took a shower the next day and when I came out of the bathroom, I saw myself in the mirror. Suddenly, I remembered DDLJ’s song “Mere Khwabon mein jo aaye” in which Kajol dances in a towel. Even I tried to imitate but unfortunately I slipped and hit my head on the sharp edge of my square bed. I really don’t remember what happened next. I was in a coma for 15 days. When I woke up, I thought I slipped and fell yesterday and only woke up today. “
- Following a head injury, a total of nine titanium wires were inserted into her head during surgery, after which doctors advised her to rest for about two years. Doctors also told her she was at risk of falling into depression.
- In November 2017, she was spotted participating in a cancer awareness walk in Hyderabad called ‘Victor’s Walk’, which was launched to create awareness about the deadly disease.
