Murray Kinsella News

In tomorrow’s Women’s Rugby World Cup semifinal, Ireland might be the underdog. The World Cup final spot is an extraordinary prize, but anything can happen against England at this point.

When the Irish defeated the powerful New Zealand during the pool stages, they have shown what is possible when you put in the time and effort. Philip Doyle’s team should draw strength from this victory.

That notion was emphasised by Murray Kinsella of The Score.ie when he spoke with us tonight from the World Cup in France.

“I am aware that the team and the girls do not believe that this is the end. They can win a World Cup, and they have the confidence to do so, according to Kinsella, who thinks that their collective confidence has increased as a result of the preparation.

Kinsella also emphasised the team’s and longtime manager Philip Doyle’s years of labour, which are paying off handsomely. Kinsella was impressed by the manner the club has been successfully executing the various gameplans against the many opponents they have thus far encountered.

He has also been impressed by the team’s physicality and conditioning, which have paid off in the decisive moments of games.

“One of the noticeable things is that Ireland really excelled in the final 20 minutes of the three pool games, and I think the conditioning has been phenomenal,” said the commentator. Ireland may have won the 2013 Grand Slam, but they were defeated by England at Twickenham in the Six Nations by a score of 17–10.

Kinsella feels the front-line battle will be crucial and that the Irish pack can also attack the maul. He also gave reasons for his belief that Ireland can defeat the English, whose most dangerous player is Margaret Alphonsi. Ben Te’o, a standout in rugby league, was recently signed by Leinster. Kinsella also discussed this move and why it fits Matt O’Connor’s intentions.
