my hero academiaTWICE (Hitoshi Fushirakawara) is one of the few villains to be directly killed by a hero, and his death proves him wrong about what he’d been fearing. Two tragic deaths were the only way to refute his fears, but at least he had some certainty in his dying moments.
Due to a traumatic incident in which his clones banded together against him, TWICE has long feared that the original Kim Kawara died long ago and that he was nothing more than a clone with a life of his own. This led to problems such as his split personality, which hindered his participation in society, and ultimately prompted him to join the Villain League and become a villain.
However, Twice’s death proved his fears wrong, but he still had no way of knowing this fact.
Two deaths took away his clones
Tevez’s ability to create infinite clones is seen as a huge threat by the heroes, and Hawks is sent to end Tevez by any means necessary. In the third episode of Season 6, “One Man’s Justice,” Hawks corners Tevis and attempts to kill him. Twice has a few clones but hasn’t had a chance to fully unleash his power yet, so now is a good time to strike. Hawks admitted that Twice wasn’t really a bad guy, but had no choice but to kill the villain.
Hawks is knocked out twice, and as he slowly dies, the various clones around him can be seen beginning to decompose into a gooey mass. Without the original, the clone cannot survive for long and will quickly dissolve into a puddle. However, this proved that Twice was indeed the original and his fears that he was nothing more than a clone were completely unfounded. Unfortunately for him, there is no way to prove this fact without dying, meaning he is tragically unable to determine his own existence.
The characters in League of Villains are surprisingly sympathetic overall, and Twice is probably the most sympathetic because he’s generally kind-hearted, loyal, and has been through traumatic experiences. While it’s unclear whether Tevez put this fact together on his deathbed, he could at least take some comfort from knowing that he wasn’t the clone he feared he was. Ironically, TWICE had to say goodbye to Toga through his last clone, which disintegrated after saving them from the heroes for the last time.
If TWICE had other ways to justify his existence, he might not have become a villain at all, as he might never have developed his split personality. The fact that his death was the only way to learn what he wanted to know most is a particularly cruel twist that makes TWICE’s story all the more tragic.While the tragic nature of TWICE’s death varies from person to person, the harsh reality undoubtedly places it among the my hero academiaThe saddest.
