The fight of the fans for salvation my lady Jane from cancellation just got the big stamp of approval.
On Tuesday, September 10, George RR Martin welcomed the impressive Change.org petition — which boasts more than 67,000 signatures — that was organized to overturn Prime Video’s August decision to cancel the series after just one season.
Star Edward Bluemel, who played Jane Grey’s (Emily Bader) husband, re-shared Martin’s post, saying the author’s words about the show made him “really happy”.

In a blog post, Martin (75) wrote that he “really enjoyed it” my lady Janebecause he said he had “always loved alternative history and Jane Grey, England’s nine-day queen, always fascinated me.”
He called the series a “smart and original historical fantasy” while praising showrunner Meredith Glynn, with whom he previously worked on the now-delayed film Game of Thrones spinoff.
“Knowing her talents, it didn’t surprise me my lady Jane it was so much fun,” he wrote before accepting the petition. “Gotta love the fans. I wish them luck. Jane deserved more than nine days, or eight episodes.”

News about my lady JaneThe show’s cancellation comes after the series not only left Season 1 with a clear set-up for more, but also developed quite a strong fan base online, prompting a petition.
Star Emily Bader, who played the titular queen in the reimagined story of Lady Jane Gray — this time not beheaded after nine days on the throne, as she was in real life — told PEOPLE before news of the cancellation that she thought Jane “was would be a great queen” and hoped that prophecy would be fulfilled in the second season.
“It’s really interesting because I think she’s free for the first time in her life,” Bader, 27, said. “But it’s also not at all. Because she left her family and her sisters in the hands of someone who is bitterly angry with her.”

Jane’s relationship with her husband, Lord Guildford Dudley (Bluemel) – who finally broke his curse and could transform into a horse at will, not because of the sunrise – was also on Bader’s mind.
“I love the fact that we ended up with Guildford being able to be in the daylight. I think that’s so beautiful,” she said. “I’d love to see them find each other now that they’re completely open, but I also imagine there has to be some tension because Jane is very strong-willed and she’s not necessarily going to put their relationship at the forefront of her priorities if something as dire as survival is her family at stake.”
Still, Bader said Jane and Guildford were “made for each other.”
