Mystery as Brit tourist’s naked body is found in the sea off a Thai beach as CCTV reveals his final moments

A heartbroken family is searching for answers after the naked body of a young British tourist was found in the sea off a beach in Thailand.

Regan Kelly, 28, had just arrived in Thailand for a month-long trip before he disappeared on January 3 – his final moments revealed by CCTV.

The building surveyor, from Selsdon, south London, was last seen on CCTV in the bar of the Mad Monkey Hostel – where he was staying.

The video shows him talking to the man for hours before the conversation became “increasingly heated”, his family said.

Reagan’s sister Laurie Blackall told MailOnline: “We’re not too sure what they were talking about, but the conversation seemed a bit confrontational.

“No sound, but Regan looked visibly upset.”

She added that her brother got up and suddenly left where he headed towards Patong Beach, before the man followed just seconds later.

Security camera footage from the hotel then shows Regan running, followed nearly 20 seconds later by an unknown man, Laurie said.

At 10 a.m. the next day, a water sports instructor found a naked body in the water near Patong.

Officers sent photos to Regan’s worried family, who reported him missing, and his identity was tragically confirmed.

Laurie and her father are in Thailand trying to find out what happened to Regan in his last hours and what he talked about with the unknown man.

He is believed to be the last person to see him alive.

The grieving family are desperate to bring Regan home, launching a JustGiving page to help bring his body back to the UK to allow for a second autopsy.

Laurie said: “The detective said he worked tirelessly but I just don’t know if they want to make it look like it was a tragic accident.

“Don’t get me wrong, it could have been an accident, but something really doesn’t feel right.”

Since Regan landed on Dec. 30, he’s been texting his sister and dad regularly, sharing pictures of his daily activities and letting them know he’s safe and well.

But Laurie said they knew something was wrong when they didn’t hear from him on Jan. 3 and reported him missing.

Regan was wearing shorts, a Mad Monkey T-shirt, a black baseball cap and a chest bag when he was seen running towards the beach.

But his sister said there was nothing on his body and none of his clothes or belongings could be found on the beach – including his phone.

Laurie said: “Our main focus is to get him home as soon as possible and continue to work on what happened because for us there is no closure, this is not a closed case.”

According to Laurie, the man accompanying her brother looked like another tourist wearing a white t-shirt and shorts and was “muscular”.

The heartbroken sister added: “I would like to appeal to this guy to tell us what was said, I want to ask why Regan seemed so upset.

“Maybe he was just having a passionate conversation, talking about life.

“From what we saw, they could have a very deep conversation.

“But it seems to have heated up towards the end – no physical fights more verbal.”

Laurie described her late brother as “the most beautiful person” who would be missed by his friends and colleagues.

She added: “He is a qualified surveyor who will be sorely missed by his team, they rely on him on site. He had an old head on young shoulders.”

Thai authorities said Regan’s official cause of death was drowning, but his family wanted a second opinion from the British coroner.
