A fast emergency team saved the day for a dog in distress.
The Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company (FVFC) in New Jersey shared in a Facebook post that they and the Franklin Township Police Department responded to a call for help after a dog named Daisy found herself “stuck in a tire rim at home.”
The FVFC post included a photo of the animal. In the picture, the dog’s head can be seen poking through the center of a large Firestone tire as emergency crews held it down.
Emergency crews said they tried to free the dog using “soap and water” but were “unsuccessful”. However, they were able to make a breakthrough when one of the FVFC lieutenants grabbed his “personal plasma cutter” to free Daisy.

FVFC shared a video taken by the police of how the rescue took place. In the video, several members of the ambulance crew can be seen circling the dog as they tried to free her in the garage.
The rescuers grabbed two blankets and put them around the dog’s neck as a cushion and to make the dog feel more comfortable. One of the crew members then used a plasma cutter to cut a piece off the top of the tire as sparks flew.

In the middle of the video, one member of the ambulance crew could be seen telling another member to put a collar and leash on the dog in case it decides to run away. They continued to cut the part of the tire edge above the dog’s head for several more minutes before the gap was large enough to pull Daisy’s head out.
One of the members pulled the dog out of the tire while wrapping it in blankets. The dog appeared to squirm out of the blankets – finally able to stretch its legs – as someone held her leash.

In another post, FVFC shared a photo of the tire after it was cut through with a plasma cutter. About a quarter of the top of the rim was missing and the metal was bent at the sides.
“Daisy isn’t hurt and she’s fine!” wrote FVFC in his post.
“This is the dedication and commitment you can expect from FVFC every time we answer the call,” they added. “We are grateful to everyone who responded today to help Daisy.”
