Nadiya Moidu is a popular Indian actress known for her performances in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. She was born as Zareena Moidu but changed her name to Nadiya Moidu after entering the film industry.

Nadiya Moidu was born Zareena Moidu on Monday, 24 October 1966 in Sion, Mumbai (age 55; as of 2022). Her zodiac sign is Scorpio. She completed her primary education from JB Vachha Parsi Girls High School, Mumbai. She received her pre-university degree from Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy College of Art, Mumbai. After her marriage, she moved to the United States and earned an associate’s degree in media management and a bachelor’s degree in radio and television communication arts. There she worked as a newscaster for ABC. In 2000, she was promoted and transferred to London to work as a newscaster for the BBC in London. In 2007, she returned to India and began living with her family in Mumbai.

Nadiya Moidu made her acting debut in the Malayalam film Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu in 1984, alongside Mohanlal and Padmini. .

- After entering the film industry, she changed her name from Zareena to Nadiya as there was another actress with the same name in the industry at that time. In an interview, she discussed the origin of the name, saying:
I got the name Nadiya when I acted in the film “Nokketha Doorath Kannum Natt”. I heard that the name was suggested by Uncle Fazil’s (director) sister-in-law. Zarina Wahab was in the industry at the time, so they decided to change my name to avoid confusion. Even now, people outside the film industry still think of me as Zarina. “
