Actor Manuel Masalva “fights for his life” after earning a bacterial infection while traveling.
In a post on Tictok on Thursday, April 3, Masalv’s friend and fellow actor Mario Morán shared it Narcos: Mexico star,, 43, he contracted the “very aggressive virus” while on vacation and was placed in an induced coma.
“My brother is fighting for his life away from home,” Morán said in Spanish Masalva, calling him “one of my best friends” in a cardiac video.
“… he became a victim of a very aggressive virus while he was on vacation, and that led him to encouraged whom. His situation remains sensitive today,” Morán added.
On the Goofundme page, set for Masalva to help pay for his medical costs, Morán originally wrote that the type of bacteria infected by the actor is unknown, but in an update divided on Thursday he wrote that doctors identified bacteria.

“The man remains in a critical state; the bacteria have already been discovered, he is on antibiotics, and we are waiting for him to start improvement,” the update said. “Thank you for continuing to share this campaign on your social media so that we can reach more people who can help. Together, we can make a big difference for Manuel and give him the strength and support he needs to recover.”
Although Morán did not share the accurate diagnosis of Masalva, the Mayo clinic states that infections such as encephalitis and meningitis are factors that can cause doctors to put patients in induced pieces in severe cases, due to brain swelling, spinal cord or tissue surrounding tissues.
In his video, Morán focused his followers on the Gofundme page, which has raised more than $ 1 million in Mexican pesos (50,000 USD) of more than 800 donors from Friday.
“Medical costs are huge and in a country where it is increasingly difficult, any help, no matter how small, can make a difference at this very difficult moment,” Morán said in the video. “If you can contribute, we thank you for our hearts.”

Although Masalva shared photos of himself on social media traveling to the Philippines on March 14, Morán did not say where his friend had infected the disease or where he was treated.

Masalva starred in more than a dozen movies and TV shows including Narcos: Mexico, in which he played the nephew chief Pablo Acosta along with Diego Luna and Michael Peño. He also starred in La Guzmán, Netflix’s biopic 2019 on Mexican singer Alejandra Guzmán.
