“Every Gibson electric is made in Nashville and every acoustic is made in Bozeman, Montana,” explains Agnesi. This has to do with the climate of those two places, because the acoustics can be greatly affected by changes in temperature, along with humidity.

Starting from the main exhibition area, Agnesi shows one of the main highlights of the location. “There’s 200 guitars circling the universe,” he says of Garage’s overhead guitars. “This is how the guitars come out after finishing in our factory.”

There are another 200 guitars scattered throughout the space, which also has a custom shop. “Everything is nicely organized. And everything is for sale.”

Agnesi points out Miranda Lambert’s signature new guitar model, the Bluebird, “which is based on the Hummingbird, but it also has a song called ‘Bluebird.’ so that served as inspiration.”

“Michael J. Fox is the reason I started playing guitar as a kid,” Agnesi fondly recalls.

“I was outside and there was a bit of commotion in the acoustic room and I see him sitting there playing ‘Johnny B. Goode’ on Hummingbird,” which is the same song Fox played as Marty McFly in the 1985 cult classic film Back to futurethe exact pop culture moment that inspired Agnes.

In the four years it’s been posted on Universal’s YouTube page, the iconic guitar scene has garnered over 60 million views.
