Nasreen Shaikh was born on Saturday, November 7, 1998 in Shakurpur, Delhi (25 years old as of 2023). Her zodiac sign is Scorpio. Nasreen completed her schooling from Government Girls High School in Pitampura Kohat enclave in New Delhi. She pursued her BA from Daulat Ram College (DU). Nasreen then completed his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab. After completing the BPEd course, Nasreen started pursuing a Masters in Physical Education from Lovely Professional University.

In 2016, Nasreen Shaikh participated in the 2016 South Asian Games where the Indian kho kho team won the gold medal. In 2019, Nasreen represented the Airports Authority of India (AAI) kho kho team in the 13th South Asian Games as captain and won the gold medal in the championship finals under her leadership.

In 2022, Nasreen participated in the 55th Senior Kho Kho National Championship held in Osmanabad, Maharashtra. In 2023, Nasreen participated in the 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship held in Tamirpur, Assam, where the Indian Kho Kho team won the gold medal in the championship final.

  • Following Indian kho kho player Sarika Kale Sudhakar who won the Arjuna Award in 2020, in 2024, Nasreen Shaikh became the second kho kho player to win the Arjuna Award for Outstanding Performance in Sports and Games, India’s second highest sports honor. ‘

President Droupadi Murmu awarded the Arjuna Award 2023 to Ms. Nasreen in recognition of her achievements in Kho-Kho. She won:

  • Nasreen has been a very good athlete since her school days, winning gold medals in 100m and 200m sprints in inter-school competitions. Her family was very poor financially that’s why she had to choose a sport that did not include any sports equipment and therefore she chose kho kho as her career option. Nasreen started her kho kho journey when she was in 3rd standard and till 6th standard she has participated in school national competitions as well as national competitions in kho kho.
  • Nasreen Shaikh, who was appointed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), receives a monthly stipend of Rs 26,000 and also plays for the kho kho team.
  • Nasreen and her family are facing a very difficult time financially during the COVID-19 lockdown, considering which federation gave her Rs 1 lakh and an Old Delhi-based welfare NGO Rs 50,000, Kho Secretary Kho helped with minimal rations. Ms. Tyagi gave her 5000 rupees.
  • In 2023, the Kho-Kho Federation of India announced that it would make a biopic centered on Nasreen’s extraordinary life and achievements. The biopic will be screened during the opening ceremony of the National League Ultimate Kho-kho in December 2023.
  • In 2023, Nasreen’s name was included in the textbook for class 5 of a government school in Uttar Pradesh.
