Natalie Portman Was 4 Months Pregnant When Everyone Thought She Was ‘Ready to Pop’ at 2011 Oscars (Exclusive)

For his latest role in May December, Natalie Portman is already getting an Oscar. The actress, who won an Oscar in 2011 for Black swanhe says he still has fond and funny memories from the big night.

“I was four months pregnant, but everyone said, ‘You have to be ready to burst.’ And I said: ‘I have five more months! I’m just huge,’ says 42-year-old Portman with a laugh.

Portman, who is mom to Aleph, 12, and Amalia, 6, adds that looking glamorous for a big night while pregnant has also proven to be a real challenge.

“It made it even more unsafe to wear heels and go up there,” she says. “I was just like, ‘Don’t fall, don’t fall, don’t fall.’ That was all I could think about.”

Portman adds that winning the Oscar was a very significant moment for her.

“It’s amazing when you do something you love and then people love it.”

IN May DecemberPortman stars alongside fellow Oscar winner Julianne Moore and says working with Moore was a dream come true.

“I admired her for a long time. She was one of my favorite actresses. We work in a very similar way. We love our children in a similar way. It was just a lot of fun right away,” she says.

In her new dark comedy inspired by the Mary Kay Letourneau affair, Portman plays an actress researching a film role portraying a woman (Moore) who begins a scandalous romance with a 13-year-old boy (Charles Melton) whom she later marries.

May December now streaming on Netflix.
