Anthony Edwards is flying high and investing in business – but the NBA star says he has no plans to make an encore as an actor anytime soon.
“I don’t know, man. I’m not going to lie,” Edwards told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview paired with the Chipotle partnership. “That is difficult. I won’t lie. When I did that movie, I gained a new respect for acting. I don’t think I’m fit for that job.”
In the film in question — 2022 Hustlestarring Adam Sandler as an NBA scout — Edwards won praise for his acting chops as goofy likely top draft pick Kermit Wilts.
But the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA draft tells PEOPLE that these days he’s more focused on his actual team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and their attempt to make another big playoff run after coming up short in the Western Conference last season. Conference Finals.

“It was fun,” Edwards says. “It was fun trying to figure it out, going through the ups and downs. I won’t say we’ve figured it out now, but we’re trying and it’s going in the right direction, so it’s going well for me.”

Chipotle
The man who once claimed to eat 21 bags of Chester’s Hot Fries a week and whose commitment to eating Popeyes greatly angered Towns has given way to someone determined to lose body fat and calls Chipotle one of his “go tos.”
Listed at 6 feet 4 inches and 225 lb., Edwards has a favorite order, what the company has coined the Anthony Edwards Bowl: half chicken, half steak, brown rice, fresh tomato salsa, roasted chili corn salsa and lettuce.

“It’s just me,” he says of his order. “I am beautiful and simple. I’ll get to that in a moment. I don’t mess around.”
With visions of a Christmas Day game in Dallas against the Mavericks (whom Edwards says are one of the best teams in the West, along with the Oklahoma City Thunder) dancing in his head, Ant is at the helm of this team and settling into the role that many anointed him to be. : the future face of the NBA.
“I’m old, man,” the 23-year-old jokes to PEOPLE. “I’m getting older.”
