Neelum Sharma is one of the most popular Indian news anchors, who rose to fame mainly for DD National’s primetime news show from 1995 to 2005. Neelum is also a founding member of DD News.

Neelum was born in 1969 (age at death: 50). Neelum graduated from Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi. After graduation, she pursued a diploma course in journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, and then pursued a master’s degree in journalism from the Center for Mass Communication Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi.

Neelum became one of the most popular faces of Doordarshan and apart from her anchoring skills, she was also appreciated for her traditional attire looks – silk saree, open-haired bindi.

Neelum Sharma died on August 17, 2019, at a private hospital in Noida due to bronchopneumonia, a disease that causes inflammation of the lungs. Doordarshan News officially broke the news of Neelum’s demise on Twitter.
