Actor AN died tragically just a few months after announcing that he was seriously ill.

José de la Torre, 37, best known for his role as Iván in the Netflix series Toy Boy, died on Thursday.

The Spanish actor was diagnosed with an unspecified “serious illness” in June.

The actor was being treated for his illness, which kept him out of the limelight for some time.

Actress Luisa Martín and singer Lolita Flores were among those who paid tribute to the actor online.

She wrote: “It breaks my heart to think that I will never hear your voice again, but I will continue to talk to you. I love you endlessly, José.”

Famous Spanish singer Pablo Alborán also expressed his heartbreak, mourning the loss of a dear friend, saying: “I can’t believe you’re gone so soon.

“I am devastated by your departure. I send kisses to your family and friends.

“We’ll never forget you, Jose. Wherever you are, I’m sure you’re wearing a Hawaiian shirt, a killer mustache, and sunglasses like the ones we wore that day.”

De la Torre once told local media: “From a young age, I found solace in film – although not so much in acting, at least not in the beginning.

“I was a child who couldn’t stop watching movies, purely for joy.

“But it fascinated me and planted a seed that would later grow into my desire to pursue it as a career.”

Toy Boy was a popular Netflix series centered around a male stripper, which ran for two seasons and ended in 2021.

De la Torre also starred in Amar es para siempre, Vis a Vis: El Oasis and Servir y proteger.

De la Torre graduated from the High School of Performing Arts in Málaga, Spain.

In addition to acting, he worked as a model for renowned fashion brands, jewelry and accessory brands.

He was from Montilla, province of Córdoba in Spain.

De la Torre is survived by his parents and sister.

José posted on his Instagram on June 3 with the caption: “The joy of coming to the Canary Islands, seeing friends, grabbing mojitos and singing your heart out until you lose your voice.”

He was seen enjoying himself at a music festival in the Canary Islands.

His funeral was held in Montilla on Friday (December 6), NeedToKnow reported.
