Earl Spencer is caught up in a bizarre legal battle after his archaeologist girlfriend accuses his estranged wife of digging up dirt on her.
The tipsy peer revealed the blossoming romance in October – after announcing he was splitting from Countess Spencer, 52, in March.
And the two women are now ready for an explosive showdown at the High Court for revealing intimate secrets.
Doctor Catrine Jarman (42) is suing Lady Spencer for allegedly revealing private details of her life to a number of people.
The battle lines have now been drawn in court documents detailing a stunning rift at the heart of one of Britain’s most famous families.
Viking expert dr. Jarman, who co-hosts a podcast with 60-year-old Earl, became close to him after excavating in his vast ancestral homeland.
A Norwegian professor has been scouring his vast Althorp estate in Northamptonshire – Diana’s final resting place – in search of a lost medieval village.
dr. Jarman, declared the Nordic person of 2024 in Scandinavia, claims that the leak in May of this year caused her “distress, distress and embarrassment”.
The paperwork says: “Dr. Jarman did not know until mid-May that the countess had received private information at all.
“She found out only after the Countess disclosed the information to Earl Spencer — whose revelation was shocking to her.

“Dr. Jarman at no time gave her consent to the Countess to disclose that information to any third party or to communicate anything to that effect.
“This lack of consent should have been apparent to the Countess given the nature of the private information and the circumstances in which it was communicated.”
She accuses the Countess of telling a “close group of personal friends”.
She was also said to have told those involved in the “care, education or upbringing” of their 11-year-old daughter, Lady Charlotte Diana.
They include teachers and parents at the £18,600-a-year Spratton Hall School, Northants.

The paperwork states: “This has caused her great harm, including grief, upset and embarrassment, for which the Countess is responsible.”
dr. Jarman wants compensation, an injunction against Lady Spencer telling anyone else and a full list of those who have already been told.
