Nick Carter Shares Family Video in First Post Since Sister Bobbie Jean’s Death: ‘Cherishing These Moments’

Nick Carter has broken his silence following the death of his late sister Bobbie Jean Carter.

The Backstreet Boys singer, 43, shared the post on Instagram on Saturday, marking his first follow-up to his sibling’s death at the age of 41 on December 23.

Carter shared a short video of his son Odin Reign, 7, playing golf. In it, the father-of-three could be heard shouting “Great shot” as his child swung the bat on the grass field.

“I cherish these moments,” the musician – who also shares daughters Pearl, 19 months, and Saoirse Reign, 3, with wife Lauren Kitt – captioned the seconds-long clip.

Nick Carter opens up about dealing with grief over losing brother Aaron: ‘It hurts’

Multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE last week that Bobbie Jean, the sister of Nick and Aaron Carter, has died. Sources close to the family said the Carters believe she went into cardiac arrest, as further details of her death remain unclear.

TMZ first broke the news, reporting that Bobbie Jean had died in Florida, citing her mother, Jane Carter. “I am in shock to learn of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean, and it will take time for me to come to grips with the terrible reality of this happening for the third time,” Jane told the news outlet.

Jane’s son Aaron died aged 34 in November 2022 and her daughter, Leslie Carter, died aged 25 in January 2012.

“When I can think clearly I will release a fuller statement, but until then I would ask that you leave me alone to grieve,” Jane continued. “[H]However deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a small child due to the loss of a parent must be much greater. Therefore, I would like to ask those who are sympathetic to pray for my precious 8-year-old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father, and now she has also lost her mother.”

In addition to working with her brothers Nick and Aaron during their music careers, Bobbie Jean also appeared in eight episodes of the family’s E! reality television series, House of Cartersin 2006, per IMDB.

In June, she was arrested in Florida after allegedly stealing stickers and markers from a Hobby Lobby store and was later allegedly found to be in possession of drugs.

Nick Carter shares emotional new song for late brother Aaron: ‘I miss you with all my heart’

Back in November, Nick opened up to E! News about his grief over Aaron’s death and how he was still struggling to accept the loss a year later.

It’s still unbelievable to me, he said. “I’m still processing the whole situation and trying to make sense of it – because it’s not. But I hope one day I can figure it all out.”

“No matter what he and I have been through in our lives, we’ve always been able to fix ourselves, we’ve always been able to get back to that place, and now I can’t and it hurts,” Nick added of his brother.

The musician noted that “trying to be the best father I can” has been a focus for him and has eased some of his grief.

“My children are everything to me,” said Nick. “If I lost everything, if I wasn’t a Backstreet Boy anymore, if I didn’t have the opportunity to still perform for people and entertain them, as long as I still have my kids and my family, I’d be OK. All these things on the outside don’t matter to me .”
