But he found his family “laughed” at him when he tried to DIY.
However, father-of-four Nick still thinks he could build his own house.
In an interview with The Times T2 supplement yesterday, Nick said: “My family laugh when I try to put flat packs together.
“I’m frustrated because, like most men, I don’t read the instructions.”

“But I could build my own house—easy. One day I might be.”
Nick — who has been married twice and is now engaged to lingerie owner Katie Dadzie, 34 — also revealed he has lost more than two stone since he started training for Strictly four weeks ago.
He said: “This is a lot harder than rugby training.
“I feel myself transforming from a very heavy guy who stumbles around the room to someone who is becoming lighter and more elegant on his feet.”
Meanwhile, Nick was in hot water after he said women in north-east England were “squeamish” in a sleazy chat with a young charity worker, it has been claimed.
The TV favorite allegedly made a series of lewd and abusive remarks to a woman and looked at her breasts while filming BBC show DIY SOS: The Big Build.

This made the 33-year-old support worker feel ashamed and humiliated, she claimed.
The mother of one said Knowles interviewed her in 2018 for an episode of the show about renovating a home for a family with a young child with disabilities.
She claims he turned up late after he’d been drinking the night before – and later made out in the van.
Knowles was said to be hungover, looking the worse for wear and smelling of stale booze and cigarettes after partying at North Shields Fish Quay.
When the then 26-year-old’s microphone fell down her blouse, the star reportedly said: “Too bad there’s no camera.”
The woman, who posed for a photo with the star, said he did not touch her or make a pass.
Knowles said he met hundreds of people during his work and could not be expected to remember what he said to everyone he met.
