Nicola Walker is no stranger to our TV screens thanks to a number of notable roles in hugely popular television series over the years – from Spooks to Unforgotten with Split between. But less is known about the star’s personal life.
The actress, who returns to screens this month in the second edition of Annika on Alibi, is married to actor Barnaby Kay, with whom she has a son, Harry (16).

In a previous interview with MailOnline, shared in 2018, Nicola candidly revealed that she sometimes feels worried that she will “get it all wrong” when it comes to parenting.

In the same interview, Nicola shared a sweet anecdote involving her and Barnaby when she was pregnant with Harry. While discussing the song that means the most to her, the Last Tango star in Halifax revealed: “All the songs on Tom Waits’ album Closing Time.
“My husband Barney and I played it on loop during my pregnancy and after Harry arrived. That album is completely about waiting to see our child.”

Like Nicola, Barnaby is also an actor. He is perhaps best known for his theater work and is a former member of the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company. He has been praised for his performances in famous productions, including Shakespeare’s As You Like It and Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire. As for his TV credit, he appeared in Midsomer Murders, New Tricks, Wallander and, more recently, Five.

Nicola and Barney tend to keep to themselves. It is not known where they met, but they both appeared in the popular spy drama, Spooksand they were reportedly together for almost 30 years, so it is possible that their paths crossed in the acting world.
Meanwhile, Nicola’s next big TV project comes in the form of an exciting period drama.

Split the actress is set to appear in the upcoming Sky and NOW drama, Mary & George. The plot focuses on Mary Villiers and her son George, Duke of Buckingham, who engage in a scandalous affair with King James I of England.
The role of Mary is played by A-list starlet Julianne Moore. Nicola, meanwhile, plays Lady Hatton, lady-in-waiting to the king’s wife, Anne of Denmark.
